I love Saturday mornings…moving at my pace, laying in bed just a little longer if I want, morning runs, hot showers lasting longer than 3 minutes, and Saturday morning smoothies. During the week, it’s a quick Blender Bottle shake with Silk almond milk, 2 heaping scoops of Orgain protein powder, and my Vitamin C powder and out the door. It works, but on weekends, I like something a little more like this morning’s creation.
Blueberry Avocado Protein Smoothie
1 cup Silk Cashew or Almond milk
1/2 cup frozen organic blueberries
2 ice cubes
2 heaping scoops of Orgain Organic chocolate fudge protein powder
Blend together and enjoy. Perfect for a Saturday morning or any morning you have time to whip it together. It was the perfect post-run smoothie after my run this morning.

Teenagers generally do not have a reputation for eating the greatest. I was no different. One of my favorite things to eat when I was in high school was a Wendy’s Frosty that I dipped French fries in. Weird, but delicious.
Well, as an adult now with food intolerances and allergies, fast food French fries and dairy based, sugar filled Frosty treats are clearly not an option.
This morning, I was pleasantly surprised at how closely my smoothie resembled the taste and texture of my favorite Frosty treat from my teen years yet without the sugar and dairy. It uses my new-found love – Orgain Organic plant based protein powder that I buy at Costco. I love the flavor, and it blends nicely into smoothies. It also uses frozen bananas…the perfect remedy for utilizing ripe bananas.
Copycat Frosty Smoothie
1 cup non-dairy milk (I like Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk)
1 medium frozen banana
2 scoops Orgain chocolate fudge protein powder
2 ice cubes
Blend and enjoy! Makes one large smoothie or two smaller smoothies.
It was so yummy that I found myself thinking about it all day at work. When I came home, I ate a light supper so that I could make another smoothie after dinner. It was kid approved by my 11-year-old son. Even my husband decided it was pretty tasty!
This is one smoothie I will definitely make again!
I love tea. There are so many different fun flavors, and tea has many health benefits. I love coffee, too, although it sometimes affects me in ways I don’t like…the jitters, excessive talking (it has that effect on me!), shakiness, and acidity in my body. But, sometimes I just want that coffee taste. So, I make my favorite mocha protein smoothie.
Mocha Protein Smoothie
1/2 cup brewed coffee, chilled
1 large frozen banana
about 1/2 cup almond milk
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (I used Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge)
1/2 Tbsp. ground flaxseed
1 heaping spoon of peanut butter or nut butter
Blend together and enjoy! I added a sprinkle of cinnamon on top just because I love cinnamon!
This is the first time I tried Orgain protein powder. This protein powder is plant based and created by a doctor, Dr. Andrew Abraham. It contains organic ingredients like brown rice, hemp, chia and pea proteins. It is free of gluten, soy, artificial colors, preservatives, and sweeteners. It is around $30 at Costco for the 2.74 lb container. It doesn’t bother my stomach like yogurt based smoothies or sugary smoothies. This smoothie held me over for about 5 hours until lunch.
