I love tea. There are so many different fun flavors, and tea has many health benefits. I love coffee, too, although it sometimes affects me in ways I don’t like…the jitters, excessive talking (it has that effect on me!), shakiness, and acidity in my body. But, sometimes I just want that coffee taste. So, I make my favorite mocha protein smoothie.
Mocha Protein Smoothie
1/2 cup brewed coffee, chilled
1 large frozen banana
about 1/2 cup almond milk
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (I used Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge)
1/2 Tbsp. ground flaxseed
1 heaping spoon of peanut butter or nut butter
Blend together and enjoy! I added a sprinkle of cinnamon on top just because I love cinnamon!
This is the first time I tried Orgain protein powder. This protein powder is plant based and created by a doctor, Dr. Andrew Abraham. It contains organic ingredients like brown rice, hemp, chia and pea proteins. It is free of gluten, soy, artificial colors, preservatives, and sweeteners. It is around $30 at Costco for the 2.74 lb container. It doesn’t bother my stomach like yogurt based smoothies or sugary smoothies. This smoothie held me over for about 5 hours until lunch.
